Our Cape Breton Island...

Cape Breton Island is an island in the northeast of Nova Scotia. In the past, Cape Breton Island could only be reached by ferry from the mainland. In the mid-1950s the “Canso Causeway” was built, a dam that has since connected the mainland of Nova Scotia with our beautiful island Cape Breton. Cape Breton Island is only a small island with around 10,300 km2 but offers so much that it is regularly named one of the most beautiful islands in North America (Travel + Leisure).

Cape Breton Island has a population of approximately 130,000 and is “densely populated” by Canadian standards, but it is always surprising how much intact and untouched nature can still be found here.

The landscape of Cape Breton Island...

The landscapes of Cape Breton are incredibly diverse. A special feature is the Bras d’Or Lake, which with its approx. 1,100 in size. The Bras ‘Or Lake has two entrances to the Atlantic Ocean and is a popular sailing area due to its size. It has been a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve since 2011. Another highlight is the Cabot Trail – one of the most beautiful coastal roads in the world. The approx. 300 km long circuit of the Cabot Trail into the mountains of the Cape Breton Highlands National Park is a must see. And not to be forgotten are of course the miles of sandy beaches around Cape Breton Island and the picture-perfect fishing villages along the coast.
